Whats a teacher's role in this era ?

I wonder whether teachers have anything to teach the new students? The teacher can change the role to a knowledge provider from the back end and in the front end the teacher can give hints of topics that a student should cover in a particular age.

This type of student centered learning can be more effective, since they are doing research and finding the answers making notes etc.
Its just a vague thought that came to my mind....
